Grass

Jesus grass grows fast - we've only been here two weeks and our lawn's already a jungle. Is that just a thing up here or is it like that everywhere? I've never taken care of a lawn before, really.

It grows when the sun shines. It stops growing during the winter (starting around october). In the summer, during the 2 months of dry weather, it'll brown and not grow if you don't water it, leaving about 2-3 months a year when it grows like crazy.
Most people in Seattle don't take care of their lawn to the extent that Californians do, since the grass never fully dies. In the Bay Area, our lawn needed mowing every two weeks for about 8 months out of the year, and needed fertilization about twice a year.
